So you love cats, are honest and reliable and might want to become a sitter with us? Below is a summary of what the role involves. Once you read through this information, if you would like to submit an application, please fill out the form at the bottom.

Hours / Schedule
Cat sitting with Austin Cat Sitters starts as a part time position. We ask for three available shifts per week (including at least one weekend day - Friday, Saturday or Sunday) . We do have some flexibility and want our partnership to work well and be balanced with your current life situation.  Depending on your location and number of visits booked for ACS, will determine how many visits you are assigned during this available period.

Shifts are as follows: “AM” 7am to 2pm or “PM”: 1pm to 8pm. Sitters choose which days and which shift on those days work best for them. Holidays are a major part of the job and required for sitters to be available to work. We plan holidays weeks in advance and during the holidays, your shifts may need to change to accommodate the higher demand. A relatively busy shift will be between six-seven hours, however, it may also only be a couple of hours depending on the season.

Pay

Sitters average between $19-21 per hour with Austin Cat Sitters paying $14 per hour (to start, plus non taxable tips from clients). Shifts start from the time you start the timer at your first visit and end when you stop timer at your final visit. Drive time between visits is paid.

Sitter tips average between $5 - 6.50 per hour depending on several factors, including how efficient you are (number of visits you complete during a shift), how densely your visits are (depends on your location and which clients book) and the level of customer service you give to the kitties and clients. Tips are paid by the clients and disbursed to the assigned sitters proportionally to the visits they completed for that client. The company does not take any tip money. Specific holidays (Memorial Day, Thanksgiving day, Christmas Day, Labor Day etc) pay is 1.5x per hour.

Sitters use their own vehicles and pay for their own gas and car expenses. 20% discount for visits at your home (if in our coverage area).

Training, on-boarding and growth

Our unique business model provides Manager support for the sitters the entire shift. Any questions, clarifications, or help needed by a sitter is provided by our work from home Managers. Once a sitter is settled in with us as a part time employee and has shown great service to the cats and clients they become eligible for a full time position as the overall work demand allows.
